Bhutanese Parliament Members Visit Mongolia and Learn About the “Heart Remembers” Project

During their official visit to Mongolia, members of the Bhutanese Parliament paid a heartfelt visit to two young Bhutanese patients and their caregivers at UB Songdo Hospital, where the children are currently recovering from life-saving open-heart surgery.

One of the accompanying civil servants was visibly moved, with tears gently falling—perhaps a quiet expression of gratitude and relief for the care being provided.

That evening, by coincidence, the delegation also ran into Dr. Thierry, the Swiss cardiothoracic surgeon who performed the surgeries, and shared a joyful photo together on the street.

The two patients—11-year-old Pema and 1-year-old Yeshu—are now recovering well. With their successful surgeries, the total number of Bhutanese children who have received treatment through the “Heart Remembers” project has now reached ten.

More children are expected to arrive soon, as the partnership between Bhutan and Mongolia continues to bring hope, healing, and second chances to children with congenital heart conditions.
