Bundan NGO Completes Fifth Round of Heart Screenings in Dornod and Khentii
On April 4, 2025, the “Heart Remembers” initiative by Bundan NGO carried out its fifth medical mission to Dornod and Khentii provinces, continuing its commitment to screening children for congenital heart defects in rural Mongolia. During the screening, a total of 127 children were diagnosed with congenital heart conditions, among whom 45 were found to be in urgent need of surgery. In addition, 20 children who had previously undergone cardiac surgery returned for follow-up examinations and post-operative consultations.
The mission was filled with many emotional moments, one of which stood out in particular:
A woman named Tegshjargal, who had received life-saving heart surgery 20 years ago at the request of the National Center for Maternal and Child Health, came to express her heartfelt gratitude.
This mission was filled with deeply emotional and unforgettable moments. One story stood out in particular: Tegshjargal, a woman who had undergone life-saving emergency heart surgery 20 years ago at the National Center for Maternal and Child Health, came to the screening to express her heartfelt gratitude. She was joyfully reunited with Dr. Boldsaikhan, the very doctor who saved her life. During the check-up, he listened to her heart once again and was pleased to confirm that she is still healthy and well after all these years. Now a mother of six, Tegshjargal shared a beautiful tribute: in honor of the doctor who gave her a second chance at life, she included the word “Bold” (from his name) in the names of five of her sons. The boys’ names — Chingisbold, Tugsbold, Tegshbold, Turbold, among others — serve as a living legacy of love, healing, and gratitude.
